Killzone 3 has gone straight to the top of the UK all-format chart this week, beating out the other big shooter which was released, EA’s much-hyped Bulletstorm.
It’s quite an achievement for Killzone considering that it’s PS3 only, and Bulletstorm is a multi-platform title. Bulletstorm (from Epic Games) still sold well for a fresh franchise, however, and we guess quite a few PlayStation owners only wanted to buy the one shooter in a given week.
Killzone 3 still didn’t sell as well as the second game in the series, released two years ago, which had Sony’s 5th best selling debut week ever. Killzone 3 is Sony’s 14th best seller when it comes to numbers of week one units shifted.
A shooter is at number three behind this pair, as well – Black Ops was top of the chart last week, though, and drops two places.
FIFA 11 followed that at number four, showing no sign of letting up its pace, and ditto for Just Dance 2 behind the football game.
Last week’s number two, Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, slipped to number seven, just behind another EA shooter, Dead Space 2, at number six.
Chart Track also notes that World of Warcraft has seen something of a resurgence via half-term promotional activity, with the Battle Chest edition chugging back up the charts to number twenty-four.
