O2 won’t subsidise the iPad 2

We’ve already heard today that Orange and T-Mobile will be offering the iPad 2 on contract deals, after the tablet was launched yesterday.

But as with the original iPad, O2 is refusing to follow Everything Everywhere’s lead, although O2 remains happy to flog data plans for the device.

IT Pro quoted a company spokesperson as saying: “Although we will not be selling iPad 2 with subsidy, O2 micro-sims with our great value iPad tariffs are still available for customers who have purchased the device elsewhere.”

The iPad 2 is expected to launch on March 25th over here (two weeks earlier than that in the States), with pricing kept in line with what the original iPad was going for (starting at £429 for the basic wi-fi version).
