Nintendo 3DS breaks the company’s pre-order record

Nintendo reckons the 3DS is going to go down a storm.

Obviously the company reckoned that anyway, but Nintendo now has pre-order numbers to back that assertion up, CVG reports.

In fact, the 3DS has broken Nintendo’s previous pre-order record for a console, and that’s with three weeks still to go before launch.

Nintendo UK Sales Director, Andy Yates, told games trade mag MCV that the 3DS has almost reached 100,000 pre-orders in the UK. It expects that to be exceeded considerably in the next few weeks.

In fact, nothing less than a handheld “feeding frenzy” is anticipated at the end of the month, when the 3DS is launched. March 25th to be precise, the same day that the iPad 2 is released over here, funnily enough.

Some folks might have a difficult decision to make about which piece of tech to splash their pay packet on.
