Konami and Saber Interactive have announced they are set to release a first person shooter based on the upcoming movie Battle: Los Angeles.
The player will take the role of Corporal Lee Imlay when the game comes out on Xbox Live Arcade, PSN and Windows PC. Yes, this isn’t a boxed release, but an online one.
Frantic blasting action is promised, with a single player campaign that mirrors the plot of the film, an alien invasion centred on the city of LA.
Your usual collection of assault rifles, frag grenades and rocket launchers are promised, along with destructible scenery to bring down on the enemy’s heads. Nothing sounds particularly revolutionary here, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be a decent budget shooter.
Careen Yapp, VP of Acquisitions and Franchise Development at Konami, commented: “Konami jumped at the opportunity to team up with Columbia Pictures and publish the Battle: Los Angeles video game.”
“We love the movie and it was a great experience working with Saber – there were some great ideas about how to expand the story into a game. It’s a great chance for gamers and moviegoers to play out the world of the film.”
Battle: Los Angeles is all geared up and ready to be released at some point next month.
