Game in pre-order pre-owned scheme

Game has come up with a new idea when it comes to flogging pre-owned video games.

MCV has found out that you’ll now be able to pre-order a pre-owned title with the retailer before its even out.

Would-be second-hand buyers will be placed in a queue, and as the pre-owned games come in to Game after release, they’ll be shipped out on a first-come, first-served basis. Punters will have to fork out £34 for a pre-owned game.

This is a trial scheme and it’s only being implemented for top titles such as Crysis 2.

Exactly what publishers will make of Game pushing further forward with pre-owned remains to be seen, but with EA taking measures such as the introduction of the online pass to discourage the second-hand market, things could get interesting.
