Amazon matches Nintendo 3DS £187 price tag

by Darren Allan

The 3DS price wars continue, after the weekend when Morrisons announced that it was chopping the pre-order price of the 3D handheld down to £187.

We expected Amazon would move from its price point of £197, and indeed the online retailing giant has, cutting to match the £187 today.

Nintendo 3DS pre-orders are apparently going down a storm ahead of the release a week tomorrow. The Metro.co.uk reports that the handheld has actually become the most pre-ordered console in Amazon’s history, displacing the PlayStation 3 and the Wii.

Nintendo has also stated that this is the company’s most pre-ordered console. Interest levels are most definitely very high, let’s hope the handheld doesn’t disappoint.

Initial reviews we’ve seen from Japan have been reasonably favourable, and although some launch titles make better use of the 3D effects than others, that’s pretty much to be expected.
