Queues of hundreds for Nintendo 3DS launch

by Darren Allan

The Nintendo 3DS is officially on sale today, with midnight openings across the country last night for hardcore handheld fans who wanted the device immediately.

According to a report on MCV, nearly 500 Game and Gamestation stores opened at the stroke of twelve last night, and there were queues to get in…

And they re-opened their doors first-thing this morning to welcome “hundreds more” keen 3DS adopters.

The Press Association also reports that at the midnight opening of HMV in Oxford Street, London, there were also lines of hundreds.

The first person to buy the 3DS there was a 21-year-old who was also the first punter in the country to buy a Wii back in 2006.

The Nintendo 3DS offers glasses-free three dimensional gaming, and comes with 13 launch titles. Amazon and Dixons are selling it for £187, although you can get it at £175 down at Tesco, providing you also buy a game.
