Vodafone and JustGiving collaborate over text donations

A new scheme implemented by Vodafone and JustGiving will allow people to make donations to charity via text.

JustTextGiving will make it easy to give to any charity via your mobile phone, and all the money given goes straight to the good cause with no cut taken.

Text codes will allow donations to be added to monthly phone bills, or debited from your PAYG funds.

The hope is that this might encourage younger folks to donate more to charity, as early-twenty-somethings are half the numbers of retired people who regularly give to good causes.

The easier it is for everybody to donate money, the more likely they will donate. I think it’s a great idea and so simple too. And it’s even better that 100% of the fee will be donated to the charity. No middlemen to go through and no secret or “administration charges” anywhere.
