HTC Sensation priced up at £500 sim-free

by Darren Allan

Play.com has priced the sim-free HTC Sensation up.

And the magic number is £500, with a release date of the end of June. Vodafone has an exclusive on the phone which it’s aiming to bring out a week today, so the month long exclusive would fit with Play’s release date.

Voda is offering the handset for free on a £35 per month two year contract, with 900 minutes, unlimited texts and 750MB of data.

The Sensation is a dual-core 1.2GHz powered Gingerbread smartphone with a 4.3 inch display, and an 8 megapixel camera with a dual LED flash which does full 1080p recording. There’s a front-facing camera for video chatting, as well.

It’ll also come with the HTC Watch movie streaming service, with an output to pipe these to your HDTV if that 4.3 inch widescreen isn’t cinematic enough for you.

  1. To be honest, probably better just to buy a HTC Desire at around £130 from Amazon.

I’ve got a HTC Desire HD, on the grounds that I thought the camera and video offered something worthwhile in themselves. But the quality of both is dirt poor, and nowhere near the quality of low end cheap cameras.

Other than the suppoed “HD” element, the HTC Desire HD offered little more than the HTC Desire basic model, so I’m somewhat cynical that the Sensation is going to be able to justify its price tag.
