HTC Flyer contract price revealed on 3

by Darren Allan

3 is to carry HTC’s tablet the Flyer on contract deals, with the pricing scheme just becoming known.

A subsidised Flyer will be available from 3 on a two year deal for an up-front payment of £169, and £25 per month thereafter.

That’s for the 3G model, and it will get you a 15GB data allowance along with ownership of the tablet, so reports TechRadar. The total outlay will be £769 over the two year period.

3 has the Flyer down for a May release on its website and online retailers such as Amazon have it slated for June 1st, so we can expect it to be on sale in the next two weeks or so.

Amazon has the basic Flyer with 16GB and plain wi-fi priced up at £480, so it isn’t the cheapest 7 inch Android tablet offering, particularly as it initially comes with Gingerbread (though a Honeycomb upgrade is promised soon after launch).

HTC’s unique selling point is the Scribe, the stylus that comes with the Flyer and can be used to turn the slate into a sketching or jotting pad. As we’ve mentioned before, though, price is going to be a bit of an uphill struggle if HTC want this device to be as successful as their smartphones.
