Samsung offers free 3DTV service

by Brian Turner

Samsung are offering a free 3DTV services online, to help 3DTV owners get the most from their 3D TV sets.

The company says it’s aiming to address potential frustration at the limited availability of 3DTV content, especially outside of pay services such as Sky.

While Samsung is keen to stress is it not looking to challenge broadcasters, the actual service available will remain limited.

So far only a number of film trailers and lifestyle programmes are ready for the service, which should work on recent TV models from Samsung.

However, the company has announced its intention to provide full feature films in 3D from the service in coming months, with film distributor Dreamworks already signed up for it.

To view the new 3D content from Samsung, users will need to use the Explore 3D App from the Samsung Smart Hub.
