The recent news that Sony would be offering a choice of free games as an apology for the recent hack attack was widely welcomed.
However, any goodwill from this is fast disappearing after it turned out the free downloads were not working properly.
Commonly, you can download the first game without problem.
Really, it’s quite astonishing that in having failed to set up their website to prevent hack attacks, Sony are unable to easily make good on their offer.
It gives the impression of a company where incompetence, especially in online matters, is systematic - not least with the continuing saga of Sony websites being hacked one by one over the past couple of weeks.
There is a workaround to the problem of downloading the second free game, though:
1. On your PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Portable navigate to the PlayStation Network
2. Log into your PlayStation Network account and choose Account Management > Transaction Management > Services List
3. Choose “PlayStation Network Promotions” from the list of services displayed
4. Select either “PS3 Free Games” or “PSP Free Games” and then choose “Select Content”
That workaround should work and allow you to download your second game.
In the meantime, Sony might want to take a second look at its online development team, and ask them clearly why they have rushed through a promotion that offers two free games, and then cannot even deliver on this.
