The Optimus 3D from LG is finally on sale at the Carphone Warehouse.
The glasses-free 3D smartphone has been subject to a number of delays, with an initially anticipated release date of April being pushed back twice. Even Carphone Warehouse was expected to launch it late last week, but it hasn’t popped up until this week.
At any rate, you can now bag yourself some LG 3D handset action for the price of £500 sim-free, with Carphone Warehouse having a short exclusive on the phone.
There are contract options too, with the handset coming for free on £35 per month two year deals. Orange has it on £35 per month with 700 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data.
The Optimus 3D boasts a 4.3 inch three-dimensional display, along with a 5 megapixel dual-lens camera. The handset can be used to both record and watch 3D video, or you can pipe it out to your 3DTV via an HDMI output.
The device also has a 1GHz dual-core processor and 8GB of internal storage, wi-fi and 3G, but only Android 2.2 for some strange reason. A Gingerbread upgrade is promised, though, as you would hope for a cutting-edge phone…
The Optimus 3D is actually out in the UK before the US market. Mind you, our American cousins have already got the HTC Evo 3D to enjoy, which is expected to land in this country in the next couple of months.
