This is a very interesting smartphone as its display is an enormous 4.8-inch, 1024 x 480 pixel and 21:9 aspect display. The reason why they have chosen this unusual aspect is because it’s the same as you would see in cinema films.

Therefore Acer have most likely designed this device for movie playback, however the huge screen does have many other perks.

The Acer Iconia Smart is running Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and has a single-core 1GHz Snapdragon processor, which should be very speedy.

There is an 8 megapixel camera with LED flash on the back and a 2 megapixel front facing camera.

Even though the screen is huge the device only weighs 185g, which is moderate for such a long device. The dimensions of the device are 141.7 x 64.5 x 13.6mm.

It’s not the slimmest device in the market however it has a stylish body.

Another great use for the large screen is web browsing. Inevitably more content can be seen on the screen which makes surfing the web a pleasure, and with the fast processor, checkerboard patterns should be non-existent. It also has flash 10.1 which is great!

Unbeatable video playback and awesome web browsing may come at a price, because with a big screen more juice is needed, so the battery life is not going to be great.

Nevertheless if you are looking for an Android smartphone especially for watching videos, surfing the web and has good camera, this is defiantly the mobile for you and will be available in September.

Yet its price tag of €499 (about £440) may put you off, as with that money there are other devices that can do the same and more, such as the Samsung Galaxy SII.
