All is not lost if you missed the eShop deadline, provided you've kept your receipt

Gamers who purchased a 3DS console before the price drop can still register for 20 free video games, even if they missed the eShop deadline.

Previously, those who wished to become eligible for the Ambassador Programme, in which they’re offered the chance to download 20 free classic Nintendo games, had to register on the eShop before August 12th.

However, Nintendo has now stated that it’s still willing to offer the programme to those who neglected to do this.

Now, in order to qualify you have to have connected to the internet and created a Friend Code through the 3DS before the deadline passed.

Or, if you kept the original receipt for the 3DS or any other form of proof of purchase, then you may also be eligible.

Nintendo is to launch a web-based tool that will allow you to check if you are eligible for the free games.

Currently, the tool is only available to consumers in North America – a UK and EU tool has not yet been released. The tool asks users to enter a serial code to check if the programme is available to them.

So hopefully all won’t be lost even if you did miss the eShop deadline.
