Carphone Warehouse has put a price on HTC’s 3D handset.
While it’s been available in the US for a while now, if you’ve wanted glasses-free 3D on your smartphone in the UK, the only choice has been LG’s Optimus 3D.
The Evo 3D will open up the competition, and should be available to purchase next month according to Carphone Warehouse.
How much will it set you back? Contracts start from £36 per month with the handset for free – that’s a two year Vodafone deal with 600 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB.
In terms of spec, the HTC Evo 3D comes with a 4.3-inch qHD 3D display, and dual 5 megapixel cameras to film and capture 3D footage (in 720p at up to 30fps).
It’s powered by a beefy 1.2GHz dual-core processor, and will come with Android Gingerbread on board.
The Optimus has a similar spec, but with some differences such as a slightly slower 1GHz processor, and a somewhat lower res display.
Of course, the 3D effect will be paramount for those who want to buy into this tech. Apparently the Evo 3D wins out here, from what we’ve read – although there isn’t a lot in it. That higher resolution display probably helps.
It would seem the Evo 3D has been worth waiting for, then, if you’re wanting to dip your toes in the 3D phone waters. Exactly how many consumers will remains to be seen.
