The Sony Ericsson Xperia neo was a great success, as it was affordable and had an impressive 8.1 megapixel HD camera.
Hopefully the new neo V has the same great features and more.
Looking at the neo’s and the neo v’s casing they look nearly identical as they both have the same plastic shell front and back with metal sides.
Moreover the screen size of 3.7-inchs and resolution of 480 x 854 pixels has stayed the same.
If Sony wanted to upgrade the neo they should have put a bigger or a higher resolution touchscreen to make video playback better.
In addition you would have thought a newer mobile phone means better a specification.
However the camera in the neo V has been downgraded from 8.1 megapixels to 5 megapixels, which is absolutely ludicrous, because the camera on the neo was seen to be an amazing feature.
Nevertheless they haven’t got rid of 720p HD video capture which is great news.
The neo V does have a neat panorama feature, where you are able to take a 3D sweep panorama scene photo. You can also connect the neo V to your HD TV using the built-in HDMI connection to show off all your shots and videos.
The neo V uses the same Single core, Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255, 1000 MHz processor as the original neo, which is major let down. In a newer model the speed of the processor should have increased.
At least Sony Ericsson has decided to have the latest version of android preinstalled, which is Android 2.3.4. Overall the neo V isn’t is major update from the first neo, and if you are thinking about upgrading, you may want to think again.
The downgrading of the camera and the lack of new features is a real disappointment.
