Developer DICE has stated that DLC for its forthcoming Battlefield 3 title will be made available on PS3 consoles a week in advance.
Those who choose to purchase their copies of Battlefield 3 on the Xbox 360 or PC platform will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on new content.
Back to Karkand is set to be the first add-on that will be available for fans of the series to download, sometime later this year.
Speaking to the official PlayStation Blog, junior product manager Tommy Rydling said that: “You’ll be happy to know that, starting with our first expansion pack Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand, all full-blown upcoming expansion packs for the game will appear one week early exclusively on PlayStation 3!”
He also added that the beta version of the Battlefield multiplayer experience will run until October 10th, after it was announced previously that all three platforms will have access to the service from September 29th.
In other Battlefield news, publisher EA has taken another dig at its main competitor Activision and the Call of Duty franchise.
The company has never been shy about the intention to make Battlefield the number one first person shooter, but they have now taken the opportunity to add the tagline “Go Above and Beyond the Call” to the game.
However, Battlefield is hardly likely to outgun Modern Warfare this autumn. But it might just lay the foundations so Battlefield 4 does.
