There’s a new champ at the top of the UK all-format game chart, Sleeping Dogs, which has ousted Sega’s Olympic title that’s been number one for a few weeks.

Square Enix’s Sleeping Dogs shot straight to the top and became the fifth best selling title so far this year. It’s an open world cop game which has been pretty favourably received, by and large, although there are some critics who’ve spoken out against it.

It beat out New Super Mario Bros 2, although that isn’t too surprising given that Nintendo’s effort is 3DS only, so did pretty well in terms of sales. In fact, it matched predecessor New Super Mario Bros which also debuted at number two six years ago.

London 2012: The Official Video Game was destined to slip anyway, given the finishing of the Olympics, but it’s still at number three, with Mario & Sonic London 2012 Olympic Games sliding to number five. Sandwiched between those two sporty titles is Lego Batman 2, which continues to shift a fair few copies.

Another Batman game, Arkham Asylum, is at number six, with The Amazing Spider-Man following closely behind the Batmobile.

Numbers eight and ten are occupied by Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and Lego Harry Potter 5-7, both boosted by price promotions and re-entering the top ten. Dead Island GOTY Edition found itself at number nine.
