Vodafone has announced that it is rolling out Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) for its Galaxy S III customers, as of today.

The network posted a statement to say: “Great news, the Android 4.1 JellyBean update will be made available for Samsung Galaxy S3 handsets purchased from Vodafone on Monday.”

However, the upgrade process will apparently be a staggered one, so batches of customers will be notified when the update is ready – “over the course of several days,” Vodafone said.

So you might not be able to get Jelly Bean on your S III until Wednesday or Thursday, unless you’re one of the luckier customers.

Of course, you don’t have to update over-the-air (OTA), and if you don’t want to wait, Vodafone notes: “Alternatively, if you’d like to update without waiting for the over the air prompt, connect your phone to your PC with Samsung Kies and you’ll be able to update once it’s available on Monday.”

The company recommends that if you are going for an OTA update, you use Wi-Fi, as this is a big file which will do some damage to your data allowance, otherwise.
