The next-generation Xbox is going to be here well before the end of 2013, apparently.
The console, which has previously been dubbed the Xbox 720, but now it seems will be known as just the Xbox (following the iPad 3’s lead), should be out before Thanksgiving 2013 over in the US, according to Bloomberg.
So, we could be looking at an October launch perhaps, presumably with an unveiling ceremony at the next E3.
However, Bloomberg’s sources note that Microsoft is still undecided about whether to reveal the console at the E3 show, or put together its own separate launch event. We’re betting it’ll be E3, though.
The current Xbox 360 is still selling well, apparently, and shifted 750,000 units over the Thanksgiving week, outselling Nintendo’s Wii U debt launch week in the US.
The Wii U will once again fall behind in the hardware stakes once the new Xbox emerges, and Microsoft should have a fair old jump on Sony, once again, with the PS4 not expected until 2014 at the earliest.
