HTC’s M7 smartphone should be unveiled within three weeks, and will be on sale shortly after, according to the latest speculation.
We’d previously heard the rumour that the M7 phone would be arriving in the first quarter of this year, and that does indeed seem to be the case.
HTC Source reckons that HTC’s press event, held simultaneously in New York and London on February 19, will be the unveiling of the M7.
And the website’s inside contact reckons that the on sale date will be just a couple of weeks after, on March 8, over here.
One other nugget of information is that the phone will come in two colours, black and silver/white (with the handset possibly having an aluminium finish).
HTC’s next flagship phone, the M7 has quite the spec, with previous buzz indicating a 1.7GHz quad-core CPU, 13-megapixel camera, and a 4.7 inch display with a stonking 468 pixels per inch (ppi) resolution.
The iPhone 5, in comparison, is 326 ppi – though exactly how much resolution difference the human eye will be able to discern is arguable (the iPhone is already “retina” quality, Apple reckons, i.e. past the point the human eye can distinguish blocky pixels). That said, extra resolution and smoothness can’t hurt, particularly if the phone is held closer to your eyes than normal, of course.
