Default Internal clicking sound - Ipod classic 6th Gen

Hi,

I set my ipod classic back to factory settings a couple of days ago and since then there is an internal clicking sound if I shake the ipod - as if there is something loose within the unit. It works perfectly well and hasn't be dropped etc.

Although it hasn't been used for a few years, it has always been kept in a safe place.

I contacted Apple support who suggest that it may be a software problem . I was/am hoping that it isn't.....any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Sometimes Apple support are very good - other times, they resort to the most basic irrelevant answers, which usually involves silly replies such as "reformat your hard drive" or "reinstall your OS".

In this instance, if you can hear something physically moving, it is almost certainly not going to be a software issue!

As we all know that a software does not exist physically, (the very basic definition we read in our books). If you are hearing sounds that are created by something physically moving inside your device, then you need to have it opened and checked.
