This has absolutely nothing to do with CS. It's for Sky customers with a HD box that don't subscribe to the HD package, they will get HD for free for a while to see the quality, then when it's switched off they will be tempted to upgrade - or mailbombed to upgrade

Maybe not directly, but it does since they want all customers on to their newer boxes so they can prevent c/s with chipset pairing and the apparent new algorithm for it. It's the perfect excuse...

They want customers on HD because it's an automated £10+ per month for Sky.

Yes they may well want people on HD but you can have sd channels on the newer boxes too, there killing two birds with one stone while increasing their pockets.

That's really not it M8. Have another read of the leaflet, they are not swapping out SD boxes to HD, they are just giving a free trial of the HD channels to customers who already have a HD box but don't pay for the HD pack.

Its not working like that, sky are not going to just turn everyones box's off overnight in one big swoop. This would overload there call centres with problems. Sky have been been doing the updates slowly and they have affected loads of box's already. Just read around the net there are loads of threads with people affected. When its your turn its your turn until it hits you don't worry.

Sky CS will be finished by the start of the football season. Don't be buying any expensive boxes/packages.

If I had a pound for everytime I heard a rumour about Sky CS being stopped, then I would be living somewhere much hotter than the UK.
