Default How to skip tracks using your headphones on a Windows Phone 8 smartphone

So, you’ve got your Windows Phone device in your pocket and are listening to music – but then you want to skip a track, pause, or go back a track.

You could pull the device out of your pocket, hit the power button, and then use the next/previous track buttons on the lock screen, of course. But that involves taking the smartphone out of your pocket, and is a little bit of hassle.

Providing you’ve got a set of earphones/headphones with a single button on them – and most do have, the button being used to answer calls – you can use this instead, leaving your phone well alone.

While listening to your favourite tunes, simply click the button on the earphones to pause (and click to play again). If you swiftly double click it, you’ll skip forward to the next song, and a triple click will send you back a song. A far more convenient way of operating your Windows Phone smartphone’s music player when you’re out on a long walk, jog or whatever.
