Exactly, the official support forum for these boxes (Starview 3) has abandoned cable support. I would avoid Starview/THEBOX and Kryptview's now since the official support forums no longer support them. Just my opinion, no arguements please...

The Starview 1 models on ebay like those from tvgadgets are clones with the replacement eeprom in as previously posted. I have modified a few like this myself and they all run like the genuine boxes did. They probably will do now forever as I cannot see modded software coming out in the future as there is no-one who will want to do it who is capable. There are many clones of THEBOX and THEBOX Super now so be careful with whatever you buy. Many Eurovox clones also. The Digivox is good, often overlooked and as far as anyone knows has never been cloned. Good luck with whatever you choose.

As stated on Satdowns long before it closed it's cable section there will be no more "Updates" on Starview 1,it did not state (neither did I) there would be no fixes.
I also stated that IF there where any "updates" on Starview boxes it would be on Starview 3.
I never at any time said there would be NO fixes.

Sorry if I mislead anyone with my opinion.

Jon,

I am a Mod at that particular site, or you may use the word was as the section is indeed closed, but lets say there is always a way to propogate info.

@Denny true to an extent as per a lot of other support forums. BTW the Itgate may gets its long awaited trial on N2 quite soon. Lets say times are changing.

Times are changing... never a truer word said. I have heard though that fixes for the Kryptview will still be available through other mediums so that's good for all KV owners. Be interesting to see what the Linux boxes, including the Itgate can/will do with nag2. I have nothing to do with development so I have no idea and will just wait and see along with the masses.
@jimbo, yes sure they are clones but modified ones, globeteq don't make them now. tvgadgetz has also said they are, at least he is honest, fair play. Modded clones do the job nicely anyway. If there are future fixes for Starview 1 and 2, from what medium will they be available as they was always posted on sd 1st? I suppose all fixes find there way to everyone sooner or later really don't they?

alsoo is there any way to check if the boz is modded or not? i do not want a normal clone thinking its modded then put original software in it and kill it.
