Out of the box, you get 2 sattelite speakers, 2 tall speakers, 1 center speaker, and 1 sub woofer. The player itself feels kinda bulky. It has a black, glossy finish and will probably look better if you tuck it somewhere out of sight. But these issues are negligible as long as you get excellent performance.
The HT805PH has 1 HDMI port, 1 composite and 1 component, an optical input, and a USB 2.0 port. These connections feel okay. I’m guessing you won’t need much once you try the HT805PH.
Setup is very easy with the HT805PH. Everything is colour coded and so simple to do. Cable length’s are enough for all the speakers to ba placed in their right place on a medium to large living room. The HT805PH’s menu is not very complicated which is a good thing. Some entertainment systems have very complicated on screen menu that you’d have to spend a little bit more time familiarizing yourself with it. For the HT805PH, simplicity is the key.
You cannot complain with the quality of the speakers. Sounds are very rich and the bass is heart thumping. The HT805PH is very good when it comes to action movies. It has lots of control over balance and fade and truly gives you a wonderful movie experience. The center and two front speakers are where you get most of the dialogue so these are the most important things check. Increasing the volume for any distortion or noise – no problem at all. There are even preset modes of sound that you can choose from. There’s movie, music, loudness, virtualization, bass and so on.
As for the player, it can play WMA, JPEG, MPEG4, and DivX. This is means, watch videos with AVI or MPEG4 format directly on the HT805PH. The LG HT805PH can also play DVDs with improved picture quality. It features 1080P up scaling which can improve the picture quality of a Standard Definition (SD) DVD to that of Full High Definition (FHD) 1080P picture by using the HDMI connection and filling in the missing details. For the ultimate picture, a Blu-ray disc provides all the detailed picture quality without the need for picture to be up scaled.
At £140, the LG HT805PH is a bit pricey. But if you are looking for speakers that would probably give you a heart attack, then this is the one for you. You can turn up the volume as loud as you want without any distortions or change in the sound quality – impressive.
